Carbon Busters is building a greener tomorrow today

In theory, energy conservation is something we all support. Unfortunately, in practice it can be hard to know where or how to begin. But according to Edmonton-based Carbon Busters Inc., energy conservation doesn’t have to be complicated.

“There are ways to save a significant amount of money on your energy bills by making just a few simple changes,” explains Shanthu Mano, program director at Carbon Busters Inc. (CBI). “The trick is knowing how to wring more productive work from every singe kilowatt-hour of energy.”

Over the past few years Carbon Busters Inc. has saved their clients – including municipalities, school boards and associations – over $24 million. “We know that most people can’t afford to invest a ton of money in retrofits or new construction, so we’ve devised a way to reduce energy usage and save money with minimal changes to existing buildings and no new costs to the clients… our efficiency measures pay for themselves, and then some.”

Not surprisingly, Mano and her Carbon Buster colleagues practice what they preach. In fact, they were just awarded their fifth consecutive Gold Champion reporting level by the Voluntary Challenge Registry (VCR) for their own internal environmental efforts.

“Everyone can play a part in reducing the amount of energy we use and in lessening our impact on the environment,” says Mano. “Saving money in the here and now is a powerful incentive, but so is building a greener future for the next generation.”
