What is the challenge about?
- We would like you to come up with an activity or project that will help save energy in your school, encourage people in your school to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and raise environmental awareness.
- Tell us about your project: how did this project save energy in your school?
- Submit a report about the project before March 31, 2006.
Carbon Buster Contest - 2005
The theme is “Green Matters! - Exploring green spaces in your school”. With this contest we are hoping to motivate classes, student groups or the Green Team to create or enhance a green space in their school. The benefits of green spaces, even small ones, are numerous. Students develop a greater awareness of plants and animals, increase their observation skills, obtain more physical exercise and develop an appreciation for nature. Through positive experiences with natural spaces they become motivated to protect it.
We have listed some project ideas on the poster (PDF 1.1 MB) and would be happy to provide you with further ideas and information. We understand that some projects may not be completed until after the contest deadline. Therefore, we also accept blueprints or plans for a project to be completed in the late spring or in the summer months as a contest entry.
Deadline is May 13, 2005.
