Horizon School Division wins gold second year in a row!

Carbon Busters would like to congratulate the Horizon School Division for winning Gold level reporting status

for Canada’s Climate Change Voluntary Challenge & Registry!

The VCR (Voluntary Challenge & Registry) was established in 1997 to encourage organizations in Canada to become more energy efficient and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions on a voluntary basis.

Gold level is the highest level of reporting achieveable and proves that the Horizon School District is on the right track in becoming a leader in energy efficiency and environmental education.

Through district initiatives and the Carbon Busters Program the Horizon School District has been able to reduce harmful greenhouse gas emissions by 8.3% or 329.9 tonnes of CO2 in the first reporting year. That is as much pollution as 320 small cars would produce in 1 year. The Horizon School Division is one of only two school districts in all of Canada that achieved Gold level reporting for 2004.
Find out more about the VCR report.

Keep up the good work, Horizon!
